Well I did tell my friend Michele that I would be using my unexpected day off to do the ironing, some cooking, fixing the front door bell and other mundane jobs. However this layout needed a title and then had to be photographed so I thought I may as well blog it while I was already distracted from the jobs I should be doing. So here we are. The photo is of my sister and me with a cousin, Donna, who used to visit regularly from America. We are still in touch but don't get to see each other very often. Busy lives and expensive flights etc etc. Nevertheless, the memories are still quite strong in my mind.
I have used Prima songbird, again.
ETA. I have now done the ironing -very virtuous

Sketch challenge
Over on My Creative Sketches this is the latest sketch challenge:
I have used Prima Songbird, Prima Botanical, a Prima trinket and a Prima pebble. In fact the only thing that isn't Prima is the bunch of crystal flowers at the bottom left. When she was born the midwife announced that mum looked like a little flower and so her middle name was Fleur. However she was known by that name all her life and got quite upset if anyone called her by her first name.
It seemed fitting, therefore, to use lots of flowers on this layout.

different sisters
This time the photo is of my mum(seated) and her sister who is standing behind her. Hadn't seen this pic before and unfortunately neither my aunt nor my uncle can remember anything about it. I have a feeling that as it is a proof it could be on the occasion of mum's engagement to dad. Again I have used the wonderful Webster's Pages.

sisters
I have no idea when this photo was taken or how old we were and I'm rubbish at guessing ages-I'm more of a 'word' person than a 'numbers' person. If there are more than 6 people in a room I have no idea if there are 10 or 110. Same thing with age-I am hopeless at guessing someone's age. Dates and phone numbers are beyond me except, weirdly enough, I can remember all the phone numbers that were important to me when I was younger. Perhaps it's to do with having so many more things to store in my head now such as what to get the kids for tea, whether I have washed and ironed all the necessary items of clothing and whether this bill or that bill is paid etc etc.
I
Anyway, I digress. Here is the photo of my sister and me. I am the younger one on the left as you look-incase you can't tell. A rare occasion when I can see a likeness between myself and my son, Michael-interesting!
More Webster's Pages and Prima. Only 2 more to go but it's too late to photo them now.

Websters Pages
are just made for the scrapper with lots of girly photos to scrap. That would be me then.... Err I think not. However my aunt who moved house recently found lots of photos from my childhood and earlier and gave them to me. Perfect. the first one is of me and mum in the garden. No idea how old I am but just looking at this photo makes me smile. Not sure why really. Maybe cos there we are on what must be a summer day in the garden each doing our own thing. Mum looks like she is sewing which was how I remember her most: always with some sort of needle in her hand-be it knitting, crochet, tapestry, petit-point or just plain old stitching. It looks like someone, probably dad, is making me laugh and grabbing my attention. Happy days.

Summer in the city
Another challenge over on Crafty Individuals this month. this time the theme is Summer. I have used a small box frame to make my summer in the City. Besides using one of the papers in CI's new Summer book I have used CI-309 & CI-234 for the background birds, CI-271 for the city scene, which has been 3ded and 9ded (is there such a thing?-there is now.) and CI-234 again for the frame and the stamping on the glass-not sure if that shows up too well on the photo.

A new challenge
over on My Creative Sketches. I did two layouts and then couldn't decide which to submit, decided that it wouldn't really matter as I like them both. However I've linked the first one as it is nearer the sketch and a great photo of Michael. The papers MME help as they are so easy to use. A bit of cutting and a bit of stamping and voilà. Emma would be proud of me as I've even used the bits at the bottom of the 12x12 that show what's on the reverse side and I've even added the little labels that say follow your heart from the bottom bits too. Talk about using every scrap!

A domino swap
I have been taking part in a domino book swap courtesy of Zuzu and my book arrived yesterday from Shelagh. The theme was open so we could do what we wanted. Here is what I received. This was Shelagh's first go at altered art and she was worried I wouldn't like it. No need to have worried shelagh!
I was very impressed that her hubby had drilled holes through so that she could thread ribbon through to close it.
Hoping she likes it.
